The Department of Naturalization & Residency – Dubai (DNRD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), represented by one of its initiatives, the UAE Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), at the DNRD stand at Gitex Exhibition 2009 in Dubai.

The MoU aims to benefit from the expertise of the aeCERT that constitutes a cyber security coordination center in the UAE, facilitating the detection, prevention and response to the broader set of cyber security incidents on the Internet through its service offerings.
The signing of this MoU came in line with the objectives of both parties to enhance their standards to cope with the overall growth and the economic and culture developments that the UAE is witnessing.
The signatories were H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General, and H.E. Maj. Gen. Mohammed Ahmad Al-Merri, DNRD Director General, with the presence of a large number of employees from both sides.
According to the MoU, the aeCERT will provide support to protect the data and information of the DNRD to contribute in preserving a more secure cyber environment to preserve the information confidentiality and security.
Mr. Al Ghanim expressed his appreciation for this cooperation, stressing on the importance of this MoU in implementing the TRA strategy to support the DNRD with special services that will improve the DNRD IT infrastructure security statues via the aeCERT services to include guidance, education and awareness; advisory; monitoring and response; and research and analysis.

In his turn, Maj. Gen. Al-Merri said: “The DNRD aims through this MoU to build the infrastructure of information security, to control the potential threats, and to implement the proper procedures to enhance the information security of the DNRD to reach an integrated stage. It is vital to build an established and strong infrastructure to ensure the safety of our information to be able to achieve our mission and vision in line with our strategic plan, which is to improve our offering services to our constituents in accordance with the newest systems standards and quality; which requires proving a safety net for our data.” |
