The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), represented by the UAE Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Holding today, under which aeCERT will coordinate and support the response to cyberspace incidents involving Dubai Holding and its entities.
The signing ceremony took place at the TRA stand at the GulfComms Exhibition, part of GITEX Technology Week, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. It was signed by H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General, and Ahmed Bin Byat, Chief Executive Officer; Dubai Holding .The MoU is in line with both parties' objectives to maintain the highest level of information security for the confidential information held by Dubai Holding and its entities.

Al Ghanim said the MoU would contribute in achieving a number of the TRA objectives for which aeCERT was established, including improving the IT infrastructure security by providing consultancy, monitoring and incident response.
"SALIM will provide IT and Internet end users with tips that will protect them against cyber threats and guide them towards a safe cyber culture in the UAE. The TRA, through the aeCERT, will continue to spread electronic awareness via SALIM and via similar MoUs with all UAE private and public institutes and companies to insure a safe cyberspace for all Internet users, whether corporations or individuals.".

Welcoming the MoU, Ahmed Bin Byat, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Holding said: "Cyber-security is a global issue that affects us all. Intruders are trying to access computers every day looking for valuable information. This MoU, with the TRA, will be invaluable in helping to ensure a safer e-world for everyone at Dubai Holding."

We are committed to launch initiatives that will result in developing the ICT sector and last month the TRA, represented by the aeCERT, introduced SALIM, the Emirati Cyber Security Advisor, following the first phase of the awareness campaign on how to prevent Internet threats," Al Ghanim conclude.
